Nourishing New Plymouth
We believe in a community where everyone can access wholesome, nutritious food.

We deeply value the generosity of our incredible supporters, whose ongoing contributions make a real difference for New Plymouth families in need.
Thanks to their regular support, more households in our area can access essential food and assistance during challenging times.
Over the last Year
Nearly 41% of all kai parcels we distribute reach whānau, tamariki, and individuals through 51 trusted social service agencies as part of our referral network.
The top five agencies referring people to us are:
-
Tui Ora
-
Te Whatu Ora Taranaki, Community Mental Health
-
Barnardo’s
-
Prisoners Aid and Reintegration Society (PARS) Taranaki
-
New Plymouth Budget Advisory Service
Behind these numbers are real faces and stories—a growing number of people in our community are experiencing hardship. These figures reveal more than just an increase in demand; they reflect the mounting pressures on many households struggling to manage rising living costs.

Our Impact in 2024-2025
With the generous support of New Zealand Food Network and our local partners, New Plymouth Community Foodbank helped provide 5245 kai parcels. The kai helped feed over 14294 people, we know that this number is higher as often kai is shared with others facing food insecurity such as neighbours, friends and family.
